In the chaotic times of the late Jin Dynasty, the people were in dire straits. Small-town scholar Li Danke meets the female herbalist Shen Xiaotao, the down-and-out general Gu Dongfeng, the crazy rogue Zheng Yeji, and the loyal dog Gou Sheng. However, due to an accident, he comes into contact with local forces and is involved in a larger power dispute. Everyone was "having fun in the chaos" while escaping, taking risks, and resisting. While fighting for survival, they were "fighting monsters and leveling up" with humor and wit.
