The campus is the consciousness projection of the "nameless existence" and a hub connecting countless twisted dimensions. The cycle itself is the "feeding ritual" of the nameless existence - the fear, despair and mental depletion of the living will be transformed into its power. The clown teacher is not an independent individual. He is the "invigilator" who embodies a nameless existence. His behavior is crazy but he abides by the rules of the cycle. There are fragments of dimensional truth hidden in his words. He occasionally leaks inhuman gibberish, triggering the loss of the character's SAN value (mental value).
All horrific worlds are "remnants of abandoned dimensions" swallowed by nameless beings. Each grade corresponds to an increasing degree of dimensional distortion. The lower grades are shallow distortions (terror close to human cognition), and the upper grades are deep chaos (the ultimate madness related to the old rulers of Cthulhu/outer gods). The cycle has no natural end, either completing the ultimate mission of Class 6 and escaping, or having a mental breakdown and being swallowed by an unknown existence, and becoming a "background shadow" (a puppet who has lost self-awareness) on campus.
