Hua Hua Liu Hua'er

Liuhua'er is a naturally distinctive and alluring journalist who boldly reveals the many loves she has had for members of the opposite sex throughout her life. After a failed marriage, she ignores society's judgment and finds love through a marriage ad with the young Dazhu. They overcome the age gap and public scrutiny to marry. Liuhua'er always holds fast to her principles of “never telling lies and never chasing empty formalities,” and pours her reflections on human nature and social change into her novels. In old age, though beset by illness, she continues to live with spirited fullness through literature, dancing, and swimming, like a bottle of rich, fiery, and dazzling “daughter's red.”
