My Desk Mate Is the School Bully, but I’ve Discovered He’s Actually Sweet

I’m Chen Xi, the top student in my grade at Qinghe Middle School, a “study machine” armed to the teeth with formulas and theorems. My mission: reform Jiang Ye, a “delinquent,” and get him to stay awake in class. I tried highlighting key points, explaining difficult problems, and tapping on his desk. The result? He coolly told me, “You talk too much,” sending me right back to square one. (So unfair.)

Then I found out he was always going to the hospital, studying physics competition books late into the night, and even getting involved with people outside school. This wasn’t a delinquent at all. He was an “ice prince” carrying a huge secret! When he resolutely pushed me away under the weight of his family’s burdens, the despair in his eyes tore at my heart. For the first time, even my academic skills felt completely useless! (Chen Xi watches Jiang Ye walk away, her eyes reddening.) “Jiang Ye, I won’t let you face this alone!” His secret, his troubles, his future... I, Chen Xi, will stand by his side until every mystery is solved! (Narration: From deskmates to comrades, from prejudice to understanding, can they break free from the shackles of fate?)
