On March 15, 2026, Li Jianbang, a doctoral student at Tsinghua University’s School of International Relations, discovers an unfinished manuscript on the Nanjing Massacre while sorting through his grandfather’s belongings. His grandfather, Li Zhenhua, survived the massacre and devoted his life to uncovering the truth, but died under mysterious circumstances eight years ago. His father, Li Mingde, carried on his work, only to die suddenly of an illness as well.
While going through his father’s research notes, Li Jianbang is shaken by the truth they reveal: his grandfather’s death was no accident, but was connected to Japanese right-wing forces, particularly Kenjiro Onishi, a founding member of Nippon Kaigi. That night, his anger and sense of duty reach their peak. As he clutches the mysterious pocket watch his grandfather left behind, an extreme emotional upheaval activates a rift in space and time. He transmigrates to March 15, 2027, in a parallel universe, and becomes Ryuichi Onishi, a rising young Japanese right-wing politician.
In this parallel universe, Japan’s political landscape is undergoing a dramatic upheaval in 2027. The United States is scaling back its strategic presence, allowing Japanese right-wing forces to rise, while historical revisionism becomes mainstream political rhetoric. Thirty-one-year-old Ryuichi Onishi is a rising star in politics. His maternal grandfather is none other than eighty-nine-year-old Kenjiro Onishi, a founding member of Nippon Kaigi, and his political mentor is sixty-seven-year-old Junzo Yamamoto, head of the Seiwa Association of the Liberal Democratic Party. Seen as the right wing’s great hope, Ryuichi is rapidly climbing the political ladder.
After waking up, Li Jianbang discovers a System in his mind called “Tokyo Timeline: 2027,” which grants him extraordinary analytical abilities and a decision-making simulator. The System gives him a clear mission: complete it before August 2034
