Bearing Your Name, Carrying My Heartache

[Bad ending, ten-year age gap, doting romance, wealthy family, mutual salvation, both devoted only to each other, sickeningly sweet at first, then heartbreakingly cruel]

Warning: The book includes a male couple.

Yu Tang’s name was a symbol of how the world had forgotten her. In her blended family, she wasn’t even worthy of a name. Everyone called her “Girl.” At six, she struggled to survive her father’s beatings, driven out to a filthy puddle beside the garbage bins and left to curl up there through every freezing night.

Yu Chen was twelve and already the school bully, ruling the halls. Yet in that wretched corner, he found a girl covered in bruises. He didn’t ask her name. He simply put the bread and water he had just bought into her trembling hands.

They met for the second time beside the garbage dump. Sugar clung to her fingertips, her eyes curved in a smile, and her body was covered in wounds. Yu Chen looked at her and softly called her “Sugar.” From then on, Yu Tang became her only light.

He raised her until she was twenty-two. For sixteen whole years, year after year, they went from an awkward young boy to a business tycoon. As they spent every day together, feelings quietly blossomed, and they fell in love.

But fate’s blade came down without warning. Yu Tang was diagnosed with lung cancer. By then, her beloved was a man with the world in his hands, and their love had only just begun, yet it was already heading toward its end.

Yu Chen: “With my surname, Yu, I’ll bear Sugar’s sorrow…”
