In ancient times, there was neither sky nor earth, and the world was nothing but chaos. Pangu separated heaven and earth with his axe: pure qi rose to become the sky, turbid qi sank to become the earth, primordial qi gave rise to all things and filled them with life, while demonic qi brought death and corruption, confusion and destruction. After Pangu died, his primordial spirit became dormant. The world's pure qi continued to rise, forming the Celestial Realm, while its turbid qi continued to sink, forming the Underworld and Hell.
