The times are like a gorgeous robe covered with lice, and the truth is the coldest button under the robe.
From 1913 to 1928, Tianjin Wei was a place full of Chinese and foreign affairs, with three religions and nine streams. A mixed bag of weirdos. There is a Chinese-style archway next to the Western-style bell tower. The leather boots of the French patrolmen stepped on the bluestone road, crushing the opium-smoked bones of former Qing Dynasty veterans. The bells in the concession could not disperse the thick fog on the Haihe River. Next to the tram tracks, there were the sounds of gramophones in Western cafes and the sound of wake-up calls in the teahouses in the old city. This is an era of disintegration and reconstruction of order, a gap between old and new ideological trends, Eastern and Western forces, Jianghu rules and colonial laws.
Li Xingyan, a private detective wandering in the shadow of the concession. He worked as a Chinese fisherman and stayed in the East, and finally chose to live in the corner of the second floor of the Lishunde Hotel in the British Concession, relying on whiskey and keen observation. He does not belong to any party and only follows his own set of "procedural justice" that is almost pedantic in troubled times. The pocket watch in his hand records time, and also records every fester under the city's shiny surface.
