[Also known as Jin Land Chronicles]
[Bright, up-and-coming Observer x laid-back, unconventional Chief Harmonizer]
[Features plenty of original elements, including “spirits of local treasures” and “Observers,” but contains no horror. Enjoy with peace of mind.]
After joining the Jin Land Bureau of Local Treasures, Jiang Mingzhuo’s everyday life starts to look like this:
“Xie Guanheng! This ancient inkstone says some little brat scribbled all over it. It’s crying its eyes out!”
“Then comfort it. Tell it if it keeps crying, you’ll make it copy the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion ten times tonight.”
“This incense burner went ‘hmm’ and shut itself off. Is it socially anxious?”
“It just thinks you talk too much. Step back three paces, Jiang. Show the old thing some respect and let it enjoy some peace and quiet.”
She stays up all night investigating a case and wakes up dizzy the next day. He slides over a cup of dark liquid. “My exclusive energy-boosting tea.”
She takes a sip and nearly spits it out. “What is this?!”
He smiles. “The recipe’s classified. Its scientific name is ‘This’ll teach you to stay up late.’”
While surveying a site, she looks grave. “Xie Guanheng, that stele seems a little sad.”
“That’s normal. It’s stood there watching people come and go for two hundred years. You’d be depressed too. Come on, let’s get sugar-roasted chestnuts. A little sweetness will make it forget.”
