Jiang Shuo of the city bureau’s criminal investigation team is a crime-solving machine who believes evidence is everything. That is, until his superiors parachute in a “folk customs consultant,” Lu Ren. The consultant streams online, tells fortunes, reads characters, and performs spirit rituals. He solves cases using nothing but “intuition.”
Jiang Shuo: “This is feudal superstition. He should be taken in.”
Lu Ren: “Everyone, look! The clues just showed up!”
At one bizarre murder scene after another, the only evidence left behind is a set of eerie symbols science cannot explain. Jiang Shuo has no choice but to team up with this “abstract thinker.” On a case-solving journey that blends the absurd with the hard-nosed, they go from sabotaging each other to saving each other.
But when a dark experiment spanning twenty years comes to light, and “emotional resonance” becomes a weapon of murder, this seemingly impossible duo must join forces to tear the truth open, even if it means confronting their own deepest secrets.
[Scientific criminal investigation × metaphysical intuition] [Love-hate relationship] [Case-of-the-week stories tied to the main plot]
It's a very advanced book. The plot is rich and the setting is novel. The emotional line is hidden under the plot line (it may be a bit light). However, it is a bit different from the title of the book. Except for a little funny scene in the first five chapters, there is nothing after that. It's very logical, there are many abstract settings, and the fusion of metaphysics and science is perfect 😘 I may have liked watching it very much in the early days (I love logical plots), but now I like funny and light-hearted movies, so I probably won't watch them again. Logic fans can join 😎
