[Wasteland] [Realist Sci-Fi] [The Fourth Calamity] [Epic]
“Come on, repeat after me: Rong Yao.”
“Glory.”
“Qi Ji.”
“Miracle.”
“Wen Ming.”
“Civilization.”
“Qian Jin.”
“Advance.”
“Good, very good. Now, can our little darling read the whole thing aloud?”
The man reached out a broad hand and gently patted the little boy's head, encouraging him.
“Glory belongs to the past. We create miracles in the future. Civilization begins with exploration. Progress never stops.”
Pointing at the book, the boy read carefully, one word at a time.
“Wonderful!”
The delighted man picked him up and rubbed his stubbly chin against the little one's face, making the boy giggle.
After playing for a while, the boy pointed to the open page. “Daddy, what is civilization?”
The man froze. He looked at the innocent boy and, after a long pause, slowly replied:
“Civilization is the story of people, flesh and blood, bravely exploring nature so their people can endure.”
As if struck by a thought, the man gazed into deep space and murmured to himself:
“And the journey of our civilization will surely begin when we step off this planet.”
