Lin Shu'an is a genius designer who can make clients furious while earning award after award for his buildings. His motto in life is, “A smile can solve anything.”
That is, until he rushes into an emergency pet clinic with his chocolate-eating husky and meets Gu Yan, an icy veterinarian who can make a surgical blade dance but has permanently set his social battery to one percent.
At their first meeting, the vet says coldly, “Next time your dog does something stupid, don’t just sit there watching short videos.”
The next time, the barista hands him a coffee sleeve with a tiny message inside: “If it hurts, you don’t have to keep smiling.”

Later, Lin Shu'an fights tooth and nail to save the magnolia tree his father left behind, and his entire family turns against him.
Gu Yan quietly stands beside him, holding an umbrella. “Need a lawyer? I learned on the fly.”
When two wounded souls meet among the ruins
They decide to join forces for something big:
Save a tree sentenced to death,
Expose a conspiracy buried for thirty years,
And, while they’re at it… haul each other out of loneliness.
“You didn’t come to save me,” Lin Shu'an says on a rainy night. “You came to tell me I don’t have to be whole forever.”
Gu Yan kisses the raindrop from the corner of his eye. “That’s right. I came to be with you, to fall apart together and heal together.”
