After Tang Gaozong ascended the throne, he was recalled to the palace and granted the title Zhaoyi. In the sixth year of Yonghui (655), she became the queen after the "Abolition of the King and Li Wu" incident. In the first year of Shangyuan (674), he was given the title "Tianhou" and was called the "Two Saints" together with Gaozong, and participated in the government affairs. After the death of Emperor Gaozong, Wu Zetian, as the empress dowager, took the throne in the dynasties of Tang Zhongzong Li Xian and Tang Ruizong Li Dan. In the first year of Tianshou (690), Wu Zetian claimed to be the "Holy God Emperor", changed the name of the country to Zhou, established Wuzhou, and made Luoyang its capital. During the reign of the dynasty, the system of palace examinations, military examinations, self-examination, and official examinations was initiated; economically, measures were taken to reduce taxes, stop fighting, and save labor; militarily, the four towns of Anxi were recovered, the rebellion in Yingzhou was quelled, and the Turks surrendered for a time. However, she appointed cruel officials, demoted senior ministers, and killed innocent people indiscriminately. In her later years, she gradually became extravagant and arbitrary, and gradually developed bad governance. In the first year of Shenlong (705), Prime Minister Zhang Jianzhi and others launched the "Shenlong Revolution", supported the restoration of Zhongzong, forced the seriously ill Wu Zetian to abdicate, and gave her the title "Great Sage Emperor Zetian". In November of the same year, Wu Zetian died in Shangyang Palace.
