I'm Here to Enjoy My Retirement

Top physician Gu Yunshu wakes up as a disgraced consort confined to the Cold Palace. Faced with drafty walls, she calmly plans her retirement: grow medicinal herbs, practice tai chi, and turn the Cold Palace into a country retreat for the elderly.

Unfortunately, her skills won't let her. One acupuncture treatment cures the Empress Dowager's migraines, a set of exercises trims down the Crown Prince, and a bowl of medicinal tea lets the sleepless emperor sleep soundly until dawn. From imperial consorts to court officials, everyone becomes a VIP in her wellness program.

She starts classes, publishes a medical gazette, and reforms the imperial kitchen, making health and wellness part of palace life. She never competes for favor, yet the entire harem keeps a light on for her. She never meddles in politics, yet the court is abuzz over her proposals. When plague strikes the borderlands, she goes to the front lines to treat the soldiers. When two nations clash, a medicinal meal helps turn hostility into peace.

From a shabby room in the Cold Palace to a luxurious health retreat, from a handful of patients to disciples across the land. The people honor her as the “Divine Physician,” and the history books praise her as the “Sage of Longevity.” The emperor even grants her an iron certificate of merit.

Looking at the map of peace and prosperity stretching across the land that she had inadvertently brought to life, Gu Yunshu can only spread her hands in helplessness:

“I really only came here to… retire.”

With a physician's compassion, she nurtures the health of all under heaven. Thus begins the legend of a generation's Sage of Longevity.
