After Jiang Wuji, heir to the Jiang Group, was murdered by shareholders, he transmigrated to an era ruled by the Heavenly Emperor. There he met Yumu, his elder brother; Zhiya, his younger sister; his master; his confidante and wife; as well as the ruthless Empress and the sinister Heavenly Emperor, among many others. Through his dealings with them, he endured life-and-death ordeals again and again and uncovered the mastermind behind the slaughter of his entire family. To his shock, the culprits were his own master and the Heavenly Emperor. With everyone’s support, Jiang Wuji and his wife Lingquan embarked on a path of revenge, each taking a different route toward the same end.
During their quest for vengeance, many of Jiang Wuji’s dear friends, including the Forest Folk, gave their lives. They too had fallen victim to the Heavenly Emperor and shared the same enemy, so they formed a united front to overthrow his rule. But their opponent was the Heavenly Emperor, ruler of the Three Realms. He needed no one to take his side: his own power alone was enough to keep everyone in check.
The Heavenly Emperor was cruel enough to murder his own wives and concubines and torment his own children. In the end, his sons gave up their lives to stand with Jiang Wuji, willingly becoming stepping stones to help him defeat their father. At last, Jiang Wuji avenged his family’s terrible deaths.
After his revenge, Jiang Wuji succeeded the Heavenly Emperor. On a rainy night, flames engulfed his whole body, and he transmigrated back to the modern world. Only then did he understand: the Heavenly Emperor and his master were the shareholders who had started a business with his father years ago. They had conspired to destroy the Jiang family in order to seize power. Jiang Wuji therefore launched a ruthless campaign to settle accounts with the shareholders and bring them to heel.
