I Cultivate the Spirit-Suppressing Art in a Psychiatric Hospital

Police academy student Chen Yan was mentally scarred after witnessing his partner being swallowed by something sinister in a mirror, and was sent to Qingshan Asylum.

Everyone says he has gone mad. They don’t know that this remote mountain asylum has never been a prison for treating the sick. It is the Great Xia’s last sanctuary preserving the tradition of spirit suppression.

The madmen here are Spirit Discerners who can see the true forms of the sinister, Artifact Masters who can wield ancient relics to destroy evil, and Spirit Healers who can cleanse corruption and mend souls. He is a born Scribe, wielder of the Spirit-Suppressing Seal, and follows the path of madness to prove the Dao.

Blood shadows in mirrors, vengeful spirits in ancient mansions, battlefield wraiths: sinister beings lurk everywhere beneath the city’s neon lights.

Within Qingshan Asylum, the Spirit Suppressors gather and take action.

The cool, aloof senior Artifact Master wields an ancient sword to break evil; the lively junior Spirit Discerner glimpses the source of the sinister; the gentle senior Spirit Healer mends wounds of the soul. Leading a three-person team, Chen Yan uses madness as his blade and the seal as his shield, cutting down evil spirits, destroying ancient wraiths, fighting the Shadow Pavilion, and suppressing divine remains.

Only when the runes on the asylum walls light up, and the Ninefold Spirit-Suppressing Seal shines across the sky screen, does Chen Yan learn the truth:

The gods of Great Xia never fell. They are still fighting to the death against sinister beings from beyond the heavens, deep in the void.

What people call madness is simply the lucidity of Spirit Suppressors facing the darkness.

And his mission is to inherit their legacy, protect the land of Great Xia with a mortal body, and leave the sinister nowhere to hide!

“People laugh at me for being mad, while I laugh because they cannot see the truth. This world must be protected by us madmen!”
