The Corpse Whisperer’s Gaze

Ji An, a forensic examiner with the city’s criminal investigation unit, has an extraordinary gift: he can precisely detect the subtle expressions and bodily details left behind by the dead, reading from them the emotions and experiences of their final moments, as well as clues pointing to the killer. This seemingly “mystical” ability becomes the key to solving cold cases, again and again, with every fall of his scalpel. From a sneer frozen at the corner of the mouth to an almost imperceptible curl of the fingertips, from a faint tremor of the eyelids to hidden marks on the bones, Ji An uses his professional forensic knowledge as the framework and his keen understanding of “death expressions” as the flesh and blood, piecing together the whole truth. Faced with strange symbols at serial crime scenes, the tangled human motives behind cold cases, and the layers of mystery surrounding major cases spanning provinces, he stands alongside Criminal Investigation Captain Zhao Gang and the others. Between cold corpses and burning crimes, they tear open a crack in the darkness and let the dead “speak,” revealing secrets that have been buried.
