The dormitory building of Hongfeng Textile Factory, which has been abandoned for many years on the outskirts of the city, is called the "dry building" by locals. It is said that there are often cries, light shadows, and people disappearing out of thin air at midnight. The protagonist, Chen Jin, a retired criminal police officer, sneaks into a dead building to investigate alone in order to find his sister who disappeared three years ago. However, late at night, he bumps into the protagonist, Lin Jian, who breaks into the building to explore the secrets. Lin Jian, an independent reporter who specializes in investigating urban ghost stories. The two have different purposes and opposing positions, but they are forced to work together to solve a series of strange things in the dry building: tenants disappearing in closed rooms, footsteps circulating in the corridor, blood seeping writing on the wall, and "death live broadcasts" that appear on the same day every year. As the investigation deepened, they discovered that the supernatural phenomena in the Kulou were all artificial disguises. Behind the disappearance, there was a seven-year concealment of the mining accident, mass murders, and a conspiracy in the building.
