The uncanny descends + capitalist tycoon + rule-based horror power fantasy.
While they work overtime, I count my money. While they rampage, I short-sell.
As the uncanny returns and rule-based horror seeps into reality, an unknown being possesses the protagonist’s shadow, granting him the ability to “capitalize on the uncanny.” He can invest in the uncanny, acquire curses, and short-sell haunted domains, eventually founding the Styx Corporation, which spans both the realms of life and death.
His shadow is another “absolutely rational” Host, and the two often argue. For example, when the protagonist wants to save a beautiful woman, the shadow disagrees after calculating the ROI.
He doesn’t spend money recklessly. Every transaction involves complex calculations of cause and effect, lifespan, and souls.
He isn’t driven by the self-sacrificing spirit of a Night Watcher. The protagonist is a pure rational self-interest seeker, yet he ends up saving more people through unintended acts of kindness.
The System doesn’t simply hand him money. He has to run a business dealing in the uncanny, with the risk of losses.

It's quite interesting. It's the first time I've seen this kind of subject.
