I'll Be Waiting for You in Nujiang

I Wait for You by the Nujiang River is an epic, heartfelt story of love and redemption, telling of a pure romance that crosses mountains and seas, from Beijing to the Nujiang River. After his career collapses and his heart is betrayed, financial elite Qi Fengyu leaves for Lushui, Yunnan, where he rescues Feng Shanhua, a Lisu woman, by the banks of the Nujiang River. A chance meeting beneath the moon draws two wounded souls together. Like a wildflower blooming stubbornly in the depths of the mountains, she pursues her dreams with all her strength. He quietly stays by her side as they make their vows beneath the Stone Moon, cross the misty Yunbang Mountain, and face a family trial together on the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. Through their actions, they show what true love means: helping each other thrive and becoming better people.

He makes a comeback in business, building Fenghua Delicacies, a restaurant blending Mongolian and Lisu flavors. She becomes a village teacher rooted in the borderlands, while he pursues his dreams between the city and distant places. But fate takes a sudden turn: on the eve of their engagement, a car accident takes Qi Fengyu's life. All their hopes for the future shatter in an instant, and Feng Shanhua's world falls into darkness. But she does not give in. She turns her grief into strength, renames the restaurant Shanhua Fengyu Delicacies, and keeps the taste of their love alive. She donates all the compensation, allowing his life to continue touching others in a warm and meaningful way.

In the clear eyes of the children, she finds hope again. She sets her longing to music, singing I Wait for You by the Nujiang River over and over by the riverbank. The surging river flows on, and the mountain flowers bloom year after year. Alone but steadfast, she turns waiting into faith. Some loves are brief encounters that last a lifetime; some people never truly leave, but stay with us forever in another way.
