Painted Skin Fanfiction: The Splendor of Yan's Rivers and Mountains

The Painted Skin, starring Fiona Sit

[A simple, sweet romance told from the male lead’s perspective]

After transmigrating into the world of The Painted Skin, the first thing Yan Qing does is save a little fox demon before Wang Sheng can, while she is still confused and has yet to harm anyone.

He teaches her how to dress and use chopsticks, helps her learn to read and write, and brings her into the human world.

From Taiyuan to the capital, from scholar to county magistrate, he faces temptations of the mortal world and deadly demon hunters outside, along with family pressure and schemes between people at home. Yan Qing does his best to navigate it all and keep her safe, while Xuxu uses a demon’s pure nature and subtle tricks to quietly clear the obstacles in their path.

Until Xuan Zhenzi’s horsetail whisk falls, turning her back into her true form.

Yan Qing stays by the side of the dying little fox. Though only a mortal, he sets out to take revenge, and with endless patience, waits for a miracle that seems all but impossible.

“Whether you’re human or fox, however long I have to wait, I’ll wait.”
