The Buddha's Daughter Saves a Gloomy Hostage Prince

Shen Jingzhi is the legitimate daughter of the Shen family, but her parents and older brother all favor her half-sister.

Her half-sister accidentally falls into the water and dies.

Everyone in the Shen family decides Shen Jingzhi caused her death out of jealousy.

They send her to a temple for a year of cultivation, where she must copy scriptures and pray for her deceased sister.

Later,

Shen Jingzhi meets a hostage in the Buddha hall, where he has come to pray before taking a long sword to end his own life.

She saves him.

As the two spend time together, they fall in love.

But fate has other plans.

Years later,

Shen Jingzhi is forced to marry the Crown Prince of the Li Dynasty and become his Crown Princess.

The hostage returns to his own country, the Yuan Dynasty, raises an army against the Li Dynasty, and becomes its new ruler.

The emperor is no longer the hostage who could be bullied by anyone.

He has become domineering and ruthless. After killing the Crown Prince of the Li Dynasty,

he holds a long sword to Shen Jingzhi's throat and says, “I want you to be my empress.”

Shen Jingzhi closes her eyes, her voice firm and composed. “No. I refuse. Kill me.”
