After Clashing with My Childhood Friend, the Campus Heartthrob, He Discovers I'm Cheating

[A battlefield of admirers + second-person immersion + falling for each other on their own + mutual pining + childhood friends + lighthearted comedy + a hint of bittersweetness, mostly sweet + youth on campus + inspirational growth]

“We childhood friends have been bound together through our youth for who knows how long.”

Zuo Zhongyue has a secret: whenever she gets nervous, her eyes unleash a bewitching effect.

Every boy within ten meters becomes collectively less intelligent and automatically follows her around.

Unfortunately, this has no effect on Xie Zhiyu, unless she deliberately stares at him for a full thirty seconds.

So one day during break, he blurted out in front of everyone, “Baby.”

Zuo Zhongyue: “Hahahahahaha!”

Xie Zhiyu: “...You’re dead tonight.”

*

It all began when she treated him like a dog and walked him around for fun as a kid. From then on, they were at odds, becoming the loudest cicada in each other’s youth.

*

But can a cicada’s chirping compete with a cricket who’s every bit his match?

When a transfer student appeared out of nowhere, she felt a little sour. Why should he give even the tiniest bit of his attention to some outsider?

...Two years later, after the college entrance exams, she was coaxed into attending the same university as him. Only then did she realize that her supposedly oblivious childhood friend had eyes for no one but her.

*

“Her bewitching eyes can floor every boy in school, but when it comes to him, they work only sometimes.

Maybe it’s because he’s long since become immune to every trick, and only her genuine feelings can get through to him.”
