On the boundless grassland, the sheepherder Lao Ba spent his whole life guarding the land and the sheep. He regards the pasture as his mother and the sheep as his children. He works at sunrise and rests at sunset, pouring all his efforts into this land that gave birth to and raised him.
However, the shadow of capital quietly looms. In the name of "modern breeding," foreign capital consortium attempts to annex the grassland, drive out the herdsmen, and turn this pure grassland into a profit-making pasture. Lao Ba did not want to see his homeland being trampled on, so he summoned the herders who were also persistent and used their most primitive wisdom and courage to launch an unyielding struggle against the plunderers of capital.
His struggle is loyalty to the land, defense of freedom, and a tragic epic about protection and dignity interpreted by an ordinary person throughout his life.
