I Inherited Everything from My Father the Emperor

The night I transmigrated into the invisible prince of the Great Sheng dynasty, I stumbled upon the most absurd death of my imperial father.

On the dragon bed, his eyes stared wide open in death. Beneath the brocade quilt, Consort Su’s rouge had smeared across half her snowy shoulder.

“Your Highness...” Chief Eunuch Li Dequan pried open my father’s stiff fingers and placed the bloodstained imperial jade seal in my palm. “You are the emperor now.”

He paused, then glanced at Consort Su, trembling in the corner.

“She is yours, too.”

As I was pushed onto the imperial throne, the whole dynasty waited for a good laugh:

My second brother’s army was already outside the palace gates, waiting for me to ascend so he could “purge the court of evil ministers.”

The Immortal Masters of Black Mountain Sect had sent a jade slip demanding an annual tribute of three hundred pairs of virgin boys and girls.

The historian’s brush was loaded with ink, ready to write: “Emperor Jinglong died on Consort Su’s bed. His son succeeded him and took her as his consort.”

But they didn’t know...

In the middle of the night, Consort Su would enter my bedchamber barefoot and write not a love poem in my palm, but the long-lost Dragon Ascension Art of the Imperial Path, lost for a thousand years.

The bloodstained jade seal would give a dragon’s roar in the dead of night, pouring the fortune of ten thousand miles of mountains and rivers into my meridians.

And in a hidden compartment beneath the dragon bed lay the cultivation notes left by eleven emperors, every page bearing the words:

“To establish an immortal dynasty, first bear its burdens, then... take its consorts.”

Now Consort Su is kneeling at my feet, fastening the emperor’s crown upon my head.

She lifts that face capable of bringing a kingdom to ruin, her vermilion lips parting:

“Your Majesty, it is time to attend court.”

“Today, shall I teach you how to rule the country first... or how to dual cultivate with your servant using my body?”
