Nine Heavens Spirit Phoenix: The Immortal Realm Arc of the Emperor's Beloved

I pretended to be a good-for-nothing for three hundred years, then my nemesis picked me up and spoiled me

For three hundred years, as I weathered tribulations, I dutifully played the part of the cultivation world's greatest good-for-nothing.

Everyone mocked my murky spiritual roots. My cultivation partner broke off our engagement, and my master despised me.

That all changed during the Immortal Sect Grand Tournament, when I "accidentally" crushed an ancient divine artifact.

That night, Emperor Xuanyi, renowned throughout the three realms for his ruthlessness, came riding the moonlight and cornered me against a wall.

His fingertips brushed the Divine Phoenix mark at the side of my neck as he chuckled, his voice dangerous. "Is pretending to be a good-for-nothing fun?"

I was forced to ascend to immortality and kept by his side in his sleeping quarters, where he doted on me every day.

Everyone in the immortal realm laughed that he had picked up a troublesome burden, until three Immortal Emperors joined forces to force him from power.

That supposedly frail master of mine, who could not even care for himself, let go of my hand and gently wiped the blood from my skirt.

The instant he turned around, the thunder of the Ninth Heaven fell silent.

Later, my divine nature awakened, and memories came flooding back.

Only then did I see, in the Mirror of Mortal Life, that throughout ten thousand years

he had always stood at the end of my cycles of reincarnation, his gaze dark:

"Feng'er, the cage I've been waiting for has always been you."

One-sentence synopsis: A fully powered Divine Phoenix descends to the mortal world and pretends to be a good-for-nothing. After the scheming Emperor takes her in, she discovers that she is the one and only cage he has been plotting to build for ten thousand years.
