[Rigid, upright general who loses control of his reason, gong / He Shiheng VS adaptable, worldly, easygoing yet principled, shou / Jiang Xiwen]
[Two male leads + ancient-to-modern transmigration + both chaste + restrained yearning + happy ending]
He Shiheng, the Yan Kingdom’s General Who Guards the North, falls off a cliff with the emperor amid blazing fires while saving the emperor’s life. When he opens his eyes again, he finds himself on a film set in a modern ancient town. Jiang Xiwen, who has come to find a friend, mistakes him for an extra suffering from heatstroke and takes him back to Qingsheng Pavilion.
Jiang Xiwen takes He Shiheng in and teaches him to adapt to modern rules. As they spend day and night together, feelings begin to stir between them.
But moral codes and social norms become He Shiheng’s shackles. Convinced that two men being together goes against what is right, he buries his love deep inside. Jiang Xiwen understands the gulf between their beliefs and chooses silence as well. Their love, born of a bond that refuses to fade, becomes the most painful torment for them both. Beneath the moonlight at Qingsheng Pavilion, they gaze at each other in silence, each hoping the other will find the “right path,” until their restrained feelings break through these shackles.
Jiang Xiwen: “General He, your body, hair, and skin were given to you by your parents, so you dare not damage them, right? A man and woman being together is what’s right, isn’t it? Two men together goes against morality, doesn’t it? And your... mmph.”
He Shiheng: “For you, I’ll break every rule.”
