When the East Wind Brings Spring: The Tenth Prince Seems to Have Grown a Brain

A modern office drone unexpectedly transmigrates into Dong E Lechu and finds herself bewildered at the imperial selection in the fortieth year of Kangxi’s reign. She’s to be married to the Tenth Prince? The famously dim-witted Tenth Prince from history?

Fortunately, Lechu keeps a level head: if she can transmigrate, surely she can handle one straightforward prince. Armed with a modern mindset, she marries into his household. She treats his proud Mongolian primary consort with respect, but never grovels. And with the candid, simple-minded Yinsi, she shows empathy and understanding, easily winning his heart.

When Yinsi rushes into danger for his Eighth Brother, Lechu gently points out, “It’s good to be loyal, but if you truly care about someone, should you push him into the spotlight, or help him see which way the wind is blowing?” When trouble breaks out in the inner household, even the primary consort joins forces with her, her expression cold: “The affairs of the Tenth Prince’s household are no business of outsiders.”

She uses her “dreams” to foresee danger and business savvy to win over the Ninth Prince. In the turbulent struggle for the throne, Lechu makes love her boat and wisdom her oars. She not only helps the Tenth Prince “grow a brain,” but also builds a warm, peaceful home. In the end, children laugh and play beneath the corridors of the Tenth Prince’s residence, while the primary consort and Lechu chat together. When Yinsi comes home and sees them, his heart fills with warmth.

Amid the tides of history, they join hands to write a happy ending of their own.
