Su Xiao'e is the lowest-ranking servant in the Su family's alchemy workshop. Her life is worth less than a blade of grass, and she never has enough to eat.
Every day, she is surrounded by charred medicinal dregs and bone-chilling yin energy. Her only companion is a scrawny treasure-hunting mouse. Secretly studying alchemy is her instinct for survival; escaping the Su family is the obsession she buries deep in her heart.
Then, one day, the yin-charged earth splits open and the sky collapses. She falls into the abyss, only to uncover the terrifying truth the Su family has suppressed for a century: an ancient rift sealing demons, a blood-fiend source, and a pulsating dark-red giant egg nurturing an evil demon destined to destroy the world.
At the brink of death, a fragment of the Records of Supreme Unity Azure Brilliance and a mysterious “Sword Spirit Essence” are her only hope. Azure Brilliance spiritual energy brings dead wood back to life; the sword intent that banishes evil shatters her shackles.
From then on, she is no longer an escaped servant hunted down by her pursuers.
She is the first ray of Azure Brilliance to shine in the darkness.
Within the family, factions vie for power, traitors collude with the evil path, and secrets from a century ago are horrifying to behold.
Beyond it, the city lord's manor watches like a tiger, underground forces lie in wait, and the Divine Firmament Sect intervenes with thunderous force.
When the demon-sealing rift roars once more and the demon is on the verge of breaking free, Qingyang City stands on the brink of destruction.
The world knows only that a perfected cultivator of the Divine Firmament Sect turned the tide, yet no one sees the lone girl among the dusty ruins, wielding Azure Brilliance and rousing an ancient sword spirit to face the monstrous demonic calamity.
“They call me a servant, an ant, an unknown variable.”
“Then I will use this Azure Brilliance wood to break through this ancient fiendish energy, and this humble sword to cut down every injustice in the world!”
“Azure Brilliance dwells in this body, and a sword's edge lies in this heart. I will bring this tribulation upon the world to an end!”
