It Was Supposed to Be a Relaxing Game, So Why Are Players Worldwide Sobbing?

Chu He transmigrated and also gained a Game Development System that connects to a parallel timeline in the final years of the Ming dynasty.

To save that dark world, soon to be trampled beneath foreign hooves and stripped of its civilization, Chu He repackages it as a full-dive war game called The Mandate of the Dynasty.

At first, the players think it is just a hardcore casual game.

“Holy crap, this NPC’s AI is insane! It’s even afraid of dying?”

“Haha, watch me paraglide into the enemy camp and give them a little taste of modern warfare!”

But as the story unfolds, the players can no longer take it.

The old soldier who gave you his last mouthful of provisions really did starve to death;

the young officer who smiled and said, “Wait for me to come home and marry you,” really did end up with his head hanging from the city wall.

When the flames of the Ten Days of Yangzhou rise, and the blades of the Three Massacres of Jiading fall,

a million players find tears in their eyes. The jokes and laughter are gone.

“Forget the quests, everyone! Even if we all lose levels, we have to hold this city!”

“The spirit of the Ming must not die here! Charge with me!”

Watching countless players transform into heavenly soldiers and generals to fight for China, Chu He smiles, while the whole internet breaks down in tears.
