Biyao's Eternal Spring

Zhang Suyao, the daughter of a landlord, marries Su Hang, the newly appointed deputy township head. She knows nothing about farm work, while he needs a partner who can help him “get ahead.” One rainy night, a silent exchange of glances outside the township government office tears their marriage apart. Pregnant, she leaves him. She marries three times and divorces three times, drifting through half a lifetime before taking refuge in a convent. His seemingly perfect second marriage, meanwhile, is haunted by years of guilt. At the edge of the yellow earth by his grave, she laughs and cries as she finally voices the resentment she has carried for half her life. In the end, her true form is sculpted into a golden Buddha and worshipped forever. All their love and hatred are ultimately transformed into compassion.
