This is the benchmark for chivalrous and refreshing public cases in the Qing Dynasty - "The Legend of Di Renjie Detective". It is easy to read in plain language, full of suspense, and full of intrigue. After reading it, I feel very satisfied!
The background is set during the period when Wu Zetian was in power. It does not follow a single plot, but has two parallel lines to make it more interesting: on one side is the local settlement of cases and redress of injustices, and on the other side is the intrigue game at the court. The two are tied to each other, and the more you watch, the more you get confused!
The Di Renjie here is not just an illusion! He is upright and decisive, wise and courageous. He never relies on guesswork to solve cases, but relies exclusively on empirical reasoning + on-site investigation - private interviews in private to find clues, open coffins and autopsies to find out the truth, and logical deductions to solve puzzles. Every step is sure and ruthless, a perfect "ceiling of ancient criminal investigation"!
In the first half, Di Renjie was appointed as the magistrate of Changping County, which was down-to-earth and relieved! The murder case in the inn, the case of Zhou's murder of her husband, the case of the bride's poisoning... He solved each of the strange and unjust cases one by one. He showed no favoritism or mercy, and tried his best to seek justice for the people, fulfilling his duty as a "parent and official for the people" to the extreme!
In the second half, he was promoted to prime minister, and the situation was immediately filled up! Facing Zhang Changzong and Wu Sansi, Wu Zetian's favored ministers, he was neither humble nor overbearing, and acted step by step. While dealing with the traitors, he quietly corrected the political agenda, exposed the conspiracy to usurp the throne, and finally succeeded in welcoming back the King of Luling Li Xian and protecting the Li Tang Dynasty. He was called "the magic needle in the court"!
It is not only a detective novel, but also combines the suspense of the public case with the weight of the historical romance. As a representative work of chivalrous public case novels in the Qing Dynasty, it directly set the example for later generations of detective literature! It doesn't involve any fictitious tricks, it's all really fun. It has the excitement of detective work, the game of strategy, and the deep feelings of family and country. Ordinary people can understand it and enjoy it!
Reader comments
The story of "Young Di Renjie" is so to my liking! The opening chapter starts with Di Renjie's major imperial examination case when he first came out. In his 20s, he relied on his intelligence to solve a conspiracy to disrupt the court when Wu Zetian first ascended the throne. It was very enjoyable to watch! Then one case followed another, with a tight rhythm and sufficient suspense. Di Renjie's investigation process was logically clear and the characters were vividly created. The only reason I deducted one star is that I hope there will be more twists and details in the subsequent cases. Overall, it is a four-star recommendation. Friends who like ancient detective stories can rest assured to read it!
This book is still well written!
Not bad, the texture is clear and the storyline is interlocking
