Playing the Beloved One in a Horror Game

In a blood-soaked horror game, I became the only moonlight in the lives of every monster.

They tore each other apart for me, their frenzied roars echoing through every instance. Crimson vengeful spirits snapped the pianist’s spine, while the tentacles of an abyssal elder god coiled around the earthbound spirit’s neck. Destruction was the law here, and I sat in the middle of the ruins, wanting only to quietly finish painting the sunflower in my hands.

Then one day, beads of blood suddenly seeped through the paint on my unfinished canvas.

The doorbell rang.

Through the peephole, I saw an evil god in a suit and tie, holding roses, with an entire hallway full of “Them” behind him. The sunset in the real world was stretching Their twisted shadows long into my living room.

“We found you.” Their laughter overlapped in the air. “This time, it’s our world’s turn.”

Clutching my paintbrush, I finally realized that I might never finish this painting.
