This work is set against the background of the great changes in China's history in the 20th century. Through the fate of Zhou Limian and Song Jinping, their six children, and their grandchildren, a total of four generations, this work depicts an intellectual family from the drift of the Republic of China to the perseverance of New China, from the aftermath of the disaster to the revival of reform and opening up, and finally realizes the complete process of inheriting the spiritual inheritance of an "educational family".
