The story takes place at the end of the fictional 'Nan Zhao' dynasty, when the world was in chaos and war continued. Cheng Xiaofeng was originally a boy at a rouge shop. He was accidentally involved in a rebellion and was forced to embark on a road of escape and struggle. Along the way, he met like-minded partners such as Yang Qiuyue and Du Changbai, and wrestled with the villain Chen Hanbao to resolve the twists and turns of the crisis. In troubled times, everyone has difficulties in survival but also has the ambition to pursue their ideals. In the midst of abnormal power struggles, displacement, and heroic grassroots, Cheng Xiaofeng and his group use humor and wisdom to find hope between the absurd and the tragic. In the final chapter, their respective fates are settled, leaving a wonderful chapter unique to the little people in the torrent of troubled times.
