Underworld: Codename

Whose hand is reaching out of freezer 073?

Chen Ye, a funeral home clerk, has no idea. After that night shift, his life goes completely off the rails: forced to bind himself to the Underworld System, he gets swept up in a century-spanning murder mystery. Fifty-two members of the Hongluan Opera Troupe vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a paper effigy that can sing opera. Seven ancient wells are arranged like the Big Dipper, with a child's bones buried beneath each one. Deep in the Heifeng Mine, the miners keep working the night shift even after death, while the foreman's son waits for his father to come home...

Every mystery Chen Ye solves brings him one step closer to the truth, and one step closer to his own death. The Chen family bloodline is cursed: no one lives past forty.

But when they finally gather all seven keys to defy the master, they discover that the most terrifying thing isn't a ghost, but the ultimate program lurking behind the scenes, intent on formatting the entire universe and imposing “absolute order.”
