[Furry] [Alternate Eastern and Steppe Setting] [No Transmigration or Supernatural Powers] (Two updates a week, or three every two weeks)
(Don't bother with the tags. The author picked them at random.)
Snow fell, mingling with the blood of a coup and flowing into the waters of the Langling River. For the next twenty years, it never truly thawed.
South of the Cloud-Covered Mountains, wheat seedlings withered in years without rain. North of them, the grass lay beneath the ice like dried bones. Disasters came one after another, tyranny was as fearsome as a tiger, and war followed war. The beastfolk were forced to choose between death and resistance, and no one remembered the splendor of the distant golden age.
In Beifeng Town, high in the mountains, a taciturn white wolf hunter watched smoke rise from his chimney. No one knew he carried a dagger and half a jade pendant against his chest, or what the hawk emblem on the dagger and the writing on the pendant meant.
On the banks of the Langling River, a wounded red fox youth had just survived war and icy currents. With an old spear on his back, the other half of the jade pendant in his arms, and a bloodline whose existence even he did not know, he headed toward the rising smoke.
The wind rushed from the snowy mountains of the far north, swept over grasslands and fields, and carried snow toward a tale of rise and fall spanning three dynasties, four emperors, and nearly fifty years. It also wove the smoke into an epic of the beastfolk, filled with joy and sorrow, intrigue and power struggles, and bearing witness to friendship and growth.

Nest is the author's trumpet, so it's not too much to give myself five stars ()
The overall pace of the novel is fast, and I kept wanting to read on.
