A wage earner who accidentally finds the Ledger of Life and Death turns the ruined underworld into a startup project. This darkly comic workplace power fantasy follows him from a low-ranking underworld functionary to a City God and CEO of a New Underworld.
Worldbuilding and setting
The living world: Modern society, where a hidden “inner world” is active behind the scenes. Organizations such as the Eternal Commerce Guild and the Special Affairs Bureau secretly control the supernatural order.
The underworld: The underworld System is almost completely paralyzed. Nine “Soul-Suppressing Cauldrons” are scattered across major cities nationwide. If they all fall out of control, the human world will become a second hell.
The protagonist’s golden finger: A damaged copy of the Ledger of Life and Death, which can reveal people’s lifespans, alter cause and effect, and subdue spirits. It can even turn monsters into employees and bosses into civil servants.
Main attractions: Modern workplace × the worlds of yin and yang. He runs the underworld using the same principles as “employee benefits, KPIs, branch offices, and performance reviews,” treating ghosts as staff and dungeons as projects.
Power-fantasy pacing + wildly imaginative battles: Physical combat, occult arts, and industrial alchemy all come into play. He leads massive player armies against bosses, turning asuras, evil gods, and ancient emperors into wage earners.
Dark humor: The Ledger of Life and Death becomes a staff roster, while bosses are assigned jobs as janitors, mascots, and security chiefs. Commercial negotiations and employment contracts settle “divine wars.”
Episodic tour across the country: From Jiangcheng to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Xi’an, each city has its own cauldron, local power broker, and storyline.
