When Nanjing was in turmoil in 1948, Yao Mochen relied on the power of the War Department and transformed into a "perfect bureaucrat" to quietly lay out the plan, rescue the victims, establish an intelligence network, and then moved to Taiwan in response to the situation. He solidified his foundation in Keelung, built a channel in Xiangjiang, and relied on "self-contamination tactics" to escape the white terror purge. Even though he was disconnected from the organization for ten years, he still completed the transformation from military politics to technocrats with a clear mind. He stole nuclear weapons intelligence, dominated the layout of the semiconductor industry, and promoted Taiwan's economic development while adhering to his communist beliefs. During this period, he went from a marriage crisis to a life-and-death alliance with surgeon Su Wan, and also launched a cat-and-mouse game that spanned decades with his old enemy Shen Ruyuan. It was not until his later years that Shen Ruyuan understood the nature of class and chose to put national justice first. The two reached an ultimate reconciliation. Yao Mochen passed away peacefully in the early 1990s, interpreting the Lurker's creed of "Success does not have to be mine" throughout his life.
