Modern historian Zhou Ruohan accidentally traveled to the late Tang Dynasty and became the cowardly third prince Li Ye. Faced with the troubled times when eunuchs were in power, vassal towns were separatist, and the people were in dire straits, he used modern knowledge to turn the tide: preventing and treating plagues to win over the people, founding newspapers to control public opinion, and forming a new army to strengthen military force. During the crisis of the fall of Chang'an, he defended side by side with the heroine Du Ruyue, and eventually the city was broken and he was seriously injured.
When Shu was resurrected, Li Ye implemented new policies and reforms, but was counterattacked by the old forces. After pacifying Huang Chao and defeating the rebellion in the feudal town, he became ill from overwork and knew that his time was running out. Before his death, he left Du Ruyue alone, leaving behind an unfinished blueprint for a prosperous age.
Du Ruyue served as regent and raised the young emperor Li Chengye, put down internal and external rebellions with his iron fist and wisdom, and continued the New Deal reforms. After Li Chengye took office at the age of sixteen, he pioneered the scientific and technological revolution: the steam engine changed production, the railway connected the north and the south, and the navy opened up the sea. He reformed the imperial examinations, promoted women's education, and institutionalized his father's ideals.
From Li Ye's modern knowledge enlightenment, to Du Ruyue's defense and pioneering, to Li Chengye's construction of a prosperous age, three generations completed the resurgence of the Tang Dynasty in different ways. This is not only a story about a time traveler changing history, but also an epic about the cost of reform, the inheritance of ideals, and the progress of civilization. When the lights of Chang'an City are brightly lit and all nations come to visit, the dynasty that was once on the verge of collapse has become a beacon of prosperity that shines on the world.
