Summer Stars: A Symphony of Light and Shadow is a coming-of-age campus novel about dreams, friendship, and growing up. The story begins with a fateful meeting beneath the parasol trees in September: art freshman Lin Muxia and “orientation volunteer” Shen Yichen meet over a painting of the sea before a typhoon. Between the scent of turpentine and smears of paint, they spark a collaboration on a painting and illuminate each other's cosmic coordinates.
As keyboards clatter, game concept artist Su Yao, clockwork-precise architecture student Chen Jing, and independent musician Lu Chenxi enter the story. The four bury a “time capsule,” promising to dig it up ten years later and meet the people they are now. From painting through a blackout on a stormy night, to competing in a major contest amid undercurrents of capital, to facing the crossroads of graduation and choices between Paris, Shanghai, and the countryside, they learn between galaxies and paint: winning isn't about beating the rules, but about carrying on painting; love isn't possession, but becoming each other's guiding star.
Ten years later, the galaxy is visible once more from the breakwater. The metal box has been dug up early, but no one remembers the password. Yet “we're still painting” is more vast than any answer. This is a tender story for all creators who are “still on their way”: may you find, between the stars and the waves, someone who makes you “better, and worth it,” and the courage to become yourself.
Chapter 3 "Development in the Darkroom" will continue to tell: - The undercurrent and light and shadow of the new works observation meeting - Shen Jianguo's sudden appearance and sharp criticism - The first real "collaboration" between Lin Muchia and Shen Yichen
