Incense and Candles to Ward Off Misfortune: Zhao Jiugong's Path of Yin and Yang

Incense honors the gods, and candles ward off ghosts. Three sticks of incense can reach the divine, while a candle’s foot-high flame illuminates the deepest reaches of the underworld.

The snow in Qinghe Town could bury the road home, but it could not hide the dark evil lurking there.

Down on his luck and back in his hometown, Zhao Jiugong took over his grandfather’s dilapidated incense and candle shop, along with a yellowed copy of the Zhao Family’s Secret Manual of Incense and Candles.

He had once dismissed the family craft as feudal superstition. But when a dark evil latched onto a child from the Li family, leaving a strange black handprint on the back of his neck, it became the only thing that could save him. Three sticks of calming incense and a soul-anchoring incantation brought the dying child back to life.
