This book has no violent content. It's a story set in the 1950s and 60s. Zhang Dalong transmigrates to a courtyard house in the early years of the People's Republic, bringing with him a vegetable garden pocket dimension and top-notch culinary skills. He becomes the head chef at Dongxing Restaurant, earning 86.5 yuan a month and living an enviably comfortable life.
From the start, the old man shows favoritism when dividing up the family property. His eldest uncle and third uncle get into a huge argument, and a great culinary family falls apart.
With no other choice, everyone splits up and goes their separate ways. While the others complain about the unfairness and struggle to make a living, Zhang Dalong begins spending big, buying houses and acquiring property to the envy of his many cousins.
He starts with a sewing machine, then gets a bicycle, a watch, and a radio. He's got everything.
The only downside is that the house Zhang Dalong buys is in Courtyard No. 94, making him neighbors with the three masters, Silly Zhu, Qin Huairu, Jia Zhangshi, and Xu Damao.
Worried he might never find a wife, Zhang Dalong throws himself into a frenzy of blind dates. Ran Qiuye, Qin Jingru, Yu Li, Yu Haitang, and more all share a romantic chapter with him.
I've just read Chapter 55. I think it's okay and quite interesting, especially the blind date part. I'm looking forward to the plot about hallucinogenic mushrooms.
