The story takes place in the 1930s on the precarious coast of the East China Sea. The protagonist, Shen Mubai, was forced to join a secret espionage organization because of his involvement in a bizarre case. He grew from Xiaobai to the top of the espionage world. During this period, he met like-minded partners such as Song Jin and Ji Lantian, and battled wits and courage with the enemy leader Lei Zizhan. In a series of tasks, Shen Mubai gradually reveals the huge conspiracy hidden behind the changing situation. The identity crisis of double agent Song Jin and the layout of Tang Manqi's mastermind behind the scenes add several twists to the plot. The story is interspersed with life humor, psychological tug-of-war, and teamwork.
