Rise in rank, make a fortune, or die with a handsome husband: Yang Hui only got the third one.
Just when life was going her way, a little wild rabbit crawled out of the dog hole in her ex-husband’s courtyard. The rabbit was delicate and innocent, and his every move and glance brimmed with affection. He even reminded her a little of someone from her past. Now that he’d practically delivered himself to her door, what was she supposed to do?
Not about to let him enjoy the benefits of “the one who comes after resting in the shade of the tree planted by the one before,” Yang Hui grabbed him by the ears and teased him twice. The rabbit suddenly lost his temper. Just as the wild thing opened his mouth to bite, Yang Hui picked him up by the ears and tossed him right back outside the courtyard.
The bitey rabbit’s eyes went red. “You used me! You’re the one who wronged me! Shouldn’t you at least have tried to comfort me?!”
Yang Hui pressed her palms together piously. “Mercy, mercy! If I toss this sick rabbit farther away, it won’t be contagious, will it?”
[Bonus Scene]
Yang Hui: “You said you couldn’t perform. You don’t have to force yourself.”
Zhu Wenqing: “I’ve been taking my medicine properly. Princess, why don’t you check if I still taste like medicine?”
Yang Hui: “You didn’t take something to make yourself last longer, did you? What if I’m not in the mood today? That’d be bad for your health…”
Zhu Wenqing was nearly in tears with anger. “The princess hasn’t even tried me yet. Why are you saying I can’t perform again?!”
