Lin Xiaoxi, an "invisible nobody" in the fine arts department, sets her sights on Gu Yan, the aloof campus heartthrob at the top of the university's social pyramid, who studies mathematics. To complete an assignment for her sociology practicum, she uses "research into romantic behavior" as a pretext to launch a series of carefully planned "sweet distractions" at him. From delivering a painting to the wrong person to "accidentally" bumping into him in the library, her first six "confessions" all end with Gu Yan's indifference and her suffering public humiliation. Yet when everyone else thinks it's all a joke, only Gu Yan sees the sincerity and loneliness behind her assignment. When he finally responds, a romance experiment that began as "research" blossoms into the truest of affections through the healing and growth they find in each other.
