Gene editing technology is out of control, species around the world have mutated into murderous "aberrants", and half of humanity has become irrational monsters. The remaining humans built high walls and lived in isolation cages. The Ark Research Institute where genetics researcher {Chen Mo} works is the last hope of mankind - they are trying to develop drugs to reverse mutations and save a civilization on the verge of collapse.
In an unexpected sample test, Chen Mo discovered that some aberrations actually retained human consciousness. In order to find out the truth, he ventured over the high wall and reached contact with the leader of the aberrations. A shocking secret was revealed: this mutation was not an accident, but a genetic experiment by alien civilization. The mutants were the "test subjects" selected by them, and the humans were the abandoned children to be eliminated.
