Professor Xu Has Been Plotting This for Ages

On the first day of the semester, everyone was talking about Xu Chenzhou, the youngest professor in the Chinese department, and a universally admired beauty on a pedestal: he kept women at a distance and rejected anything that might lead to romance.

I lowered my head and texted him: “I left my skirt in your room last night.”

His phone buzzed on the lectern.

In full view of everyone, he picked it up, and the tips of his ears suddenly turned red.

Later, he cornered me in the research room. “Let’s talk about the skirt in private.”

I tried to play it cool. “What is there to talk about? That it was an accident?”

He adjusted his glasses, his gaze settling on me. “No. Let’s talk about now.”

“Lin Xi, my door has always been open to you.”

Later, the campus forum exploded.

Someone had taken a photo of the icy Professor Xu walking beneath the ginkgo trees, hand in hand with a girl, their fingers tightly interlaced.

And that girl was me.

Everyone thought I was the one who fell first.

Only I knew that long before I entered his life, he had already written “worth watching” about me while sitting on the judging panel for a writing contest.

Even the most untouchable beauty can blush, and even ice can melt for one person.

This is a two-way love story that begins with an accident and ends with two hearts drawn together.
