Hong Kong Island: The Yin-Yang Shop, a Cursed Coffin Claims Lives, and I Took the Case

In a narrow alley in Shek Kip Mei stands the Yin-Yang Shop, where Lin Feng does business with both the living and the dead. Hua Zai Rong falls to his knees, weeping blood: In his quest for wealth and status, he dug up a black coffin by force, only to be haunted by a vicious spirit. Every night, he can no longer tell dreams from ghosts. The coffin is bound in an ink-marker net and twice as wide as an ordinary one. In the trade, it is a hidden coffin, a forbidden object that brings ruin to an entire family. Lin Feng sneers. “Steal another person’s burial place, and you’re digging your own grave.” Out of respect for Ding Ye, he agrees to have Hua Zai Rong prepare incense, candles, and grave goods, then track down the person who pointed him toward the coffin. This “business with the dead” will have to be paid for with a living person’s life.
