If practice truly existed, what would it look like? The practice in my mind is not in the misty clouds, but in the fireworks in the world. It is not between the flying sword and the magic weapon, but the waiting of the wife praying for safety when going out, the old soup warmed by the mother when eating, and the dim lamp lit by the father when returning home late at night. The real intention of spiritual practice is not to conquer, but to protect in the mind. A spell that can make the subway stop smoothly may be closer to the original intention of spiritual practice than moving mountains and reclaiming seas; a whisper that can soothe an anxious mind may be more magical than a thunder spell. In my writing, what I practice is no longer a life filled with numbness, but an ordinary life spent with my family. It is the calmness that can be maintained in the morning and evening rush hours, the meaning seen in the trivial work, and the tranquility heard in the hustle and bustle of the city. I want to write: Thousands of lights, everything is worth protecting. The shouts of the market in the early morning, the lights of convenience stores late at night, the laughter of children chasing and playing in the park—these ordinary moments are the true dojo of urban practice. And each of us practices in our own lives. Every kind stop, every patient word, every timely helping hand is a way to light up your heart in this steel forest dojo.
